Cabinet members file their resignations


Five cabinet members of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo submit their courtesy resignations for preparation in the coming May 10 elections.


Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita who will run as representative in Batangas, file his resignation last Tuesday, February 24 after the decision of Supreme Court that all appointive officials who will run in 2010 election should resign from their office.


Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera, Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya, Presidential Management Staff Chief Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and Malacanang's point person for Urban Luzon Beltway Project Ed Pamintuan also submitted their resignations.


According to Ermita, even Augusto Syjuco of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will also submit his resignation because he is also a candidate.


However, Ermita clarify that all cabinet members who will run this election doesn't do anything against the law because they still have time to be in position until March 26 which is the official campaign period.
